Lee Stetson Acting Workshop

Acclaimed Actor Lee Stetson to give acting workshop on Saturday, February 3, 2018.  Actors of all ages invited to participate!   Best known for his solo performances as John Muir, Lee will give an all-ages acting workshop at the Mokelumne Hill Town Hall on Saturday, February 3 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The cost of the workshop is $50, with partial scholarships available from the Amador and Calaveras County Arts Councils. The workshop is sponsored by the arts councils and the Foothill Conservancy. Participants in the workshop can buy discounted tickets to Stetson’s 7:00 p.m. performance.

“We’re excited to have Lee here to share his 40 years on stage with local actors,” said Terra Forgette, Amador County Arts Council Executive Director. “Lee has extensive experience as a stage and TV actor, acting instructor, director, and theater company artistic director. We’re fortunate to have him come and share his skills and insights with our local theater community.”

Lee Stetson has been performing as John Muir for over 30 years at universities, museums and parks from Washington, D.C. to Hawaii. He portrayed Muir on Ken Burn’s award-winning series “National Parks – America’s Best Idea.” Stetson also performs every summer at Yosemite National Park, where Muir lived for about six years. He was the founder, artistic director and manager of the Hawaii Performing Arts Company; has performed more than 40 major stage roles; taught acting at the Film Industry Workshop; and has directed many major productions. Stetson is a member of the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.

“Lee will be sharing observations, stories, theater games and techniques with workshop participants,” said Foothill Conservancy Executive Director Amanda Nelson. “It’s a great opportunity for students, local theater company actors and professionals, alike.”

“We’re happy to be partnering again with the Amador and Calaveras County Arts Councils,” said Nelson. “Three years ago, our ‘River Reflections’ partnership was very successful. The arts and the environment are such a natural fit.”
