Upcountry Music for Youth Benefit Concert in Moke Hill

Give the gift of music to local kids December 8th.  The sixth annual Upcountry Music for Youth holiday concert to benefit the music programs of Rail Road Flat, West Point and Mokelumne Hill elementary schools will take place from 5:30 to 8:30 pm on Friday, December 8 at Mokelumne Hill Hall Town Hall.  This benefit is always the weekend of Moke Hill’s Holiday Open House (on Sunday, December 10th from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.) and makes for a complete Happy Holidays weekend!

Once again, Los Angeles-based musician Drew Phillips and his band are playing and helping to organize the rest of the entertainment which will include a variety of local, as well as upcoming young musicians.  Tickets will be sold at the door: $10 for adults; $5 for those younger than 12.   Admission includes dinner during intermission of a variety of soups, chowders and stews, salads and bread.  The Bake Sale and Auction is always popular, as is the no-host wine and beer bar.

In past years, proceeds of the event have enabled the three schools to purchase and maintain instruments, and to pay for music assemblies and music lessons. The total funds dispersed to 3 schools for their Music Programs over five years has been $9,32l.87 The schools are also seeking donations of old or unused instruments, which are tax-deductible. Everyone welcome. Give the gift of music to your community schools. For more information call 209-419-4658.
