Moke Hill Book Club

Are you a reader? Come to our September meeting of the Moke Hill Book Club on Tuesday Sept 29 at 7 PM at the Moke Hill Library/Archives.

Our September book is The Invention of Wings, by best-selling writer Sue Monk Kidd. In 1803, ten-year-old Hetty “Handful” is given as a personal slave to Sarah Grimke on her eleventh birthday. The novel follows their remarkable journeys over the next thirty-five years as both grow into their destinies. Based on the historical abolitionist, Sarah Grimke, the story is about struggles to live free within the constraints of life for blacks and whites during this time. A New York Times No. 1 Bestseller.

Book Club details: No commitment, No attendance taken, No restrictions, No membership, No dues. Everyone who is interested in good books and discussions about them is welcome.

Book choices every few months will follow those selected by the Sacramento Bee’s and Capital Public Radio’s Book Clubs. Announcements will be 6-8 weeks before the meeting to allow folks to find and read the selection. Come and learn about the book even if you haven’t read it.
