Open Your World to Abstract Painting

Abstract Painting Workshops with Dale Laitinen
Nationally-acclaimed watercolorist, Dale Laitinen, will teach two workshops this fall at Petroglyphe Gallery:
Basic Design Strategies for Abstract Painting, Saturday, Sept. 20, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., $85
Learn how to use shapes to create exciting abstract compositions using the cruciform (cross) design. “This strong design scaffolding has unlimited potential,” said Dale.
Expanding Watermedia Boundaries: Painting and Collage, Oct. 17 – 19, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., $295
This three-day workshop will use watercolor, gesso and collage materials to experiment with abstraction. “We’ll broaden our creative thinking and explore the use of materials in entirely new ways,” Dale explained. Gesso is used to create opaque layers and surface texture on transparent watercolor, while collage is added to dramatically change design and create interesting painting surfaces.”
